The European Narrative Competition is open to all European citizens. This year's theme is "Freedom to play, to believe, to love, to live....in peace." All entries must be submitted by 18th September 2005.

The Man Booker Prize for Fiction
The Man Booker Prize for Fiction represents the very best in contemporary fiction. Now thirty-five years old, the award continues to be one of the world's most prestigious awards and a pinnacle of ambition for every fiction writer.

The Whitbread Book Awards
Another one of the UK's most prestigious literary prizes, the Whitbread annually awards winners with a total of £50,000. There are six awards given, five categorical prizes whose winners each receive £5,000 and one overall winner, who receives £25,000.

The Pulitzer Prize Award
The Pulitzer Prize awards writers for fiction, non-fiction, biographical, autobiographical, and poetic achievement. This long standing prize is held in the highest regard by those in the literary and artistic community worldwide.

The Smarties Award
Is awarded by a panel of children chosen from 60 schools and broken down into age groups 0-5, 6-8 and 9-11. These children chose the best books for each age group from a list of titles first compiled by a panel of adult judges.

The Carnegie Medal
The Carnegie Medal is also an award dedicated to children's literature. The medal and £500 worth of books to be donated to the library of the author's choice is awarded annually to the writer of an outstanding book for children.
