Burma: Zargana released

Published: October 18, 2007

English PEN has received reports that the poet and comedian Zargana, arrested for his part in supporting the recent protests in Myanmar (Burma) on 25 September, has now been released. We warmly welcome this news, but continue to protest the ongoing detention of other Burmese writers and journalists. Zargana himself remains under heavy surveillance and restriction, as he has been for many years.
