[Mali] Editor released pending trial

English PEN joins the Writers in Prison Committee of PEN International in welcoming the release pending trial of Le Républicain editor Boukary Daou. Daou had been detained for 27 days on charges of ‘inciting disobedience’ and ‘publishing false news’ in relation to an open letter he published in March 2013. Whilst we welcome Daou’s release, we continue to call for all charges against him to be dropped. Please join us.

For further information on Daou’s case, please visit the PEN International website.
