You (Still) Can’t Say That! The Big PEN Comedy Gig
Thursday 1 March, 6:30 pm—10:30 pm£15 – £25
English PEN is delighted to announce some of the fantastic comedians standing up for free speech by supporting the Big PEN Comedy Gig on 1 March 2018.
We are sorry to say that due to unforeseen circumstances Barry Cryer is no longer able to join us on 1 March. However, we are delighted that Ronnie Golden will still be performing as planned.
For a second year, the night will be hosted by fiercely funny, master of thought-provoking political satire Nick Revell. Nick said:
If the writers and journos get shut down, we don’t get to know about anything else. Granted, blissful ignorance is tempting right now, but freedom of speech is actually more important. Even if it offends you. So don’t be a prick, and buy a ticket.
We have another incredible line-up this year, including comic actor of Nighty-Night, Brass Eye and Fist of Fun fame Kevin Eldon; the hugely talented Olivier Award winning stand up comedian Pippa Evans; performance poet, comedian, musician and songwriter John Hegley; BBC Radio 4 Infinite Monkey Cage presenter, comedian and writer Robin Ince; BBC New Comedy Awards 2016 finalist Sindhu Vee; and comic legend Ronnie Golden.
*JUST ANNOUNCED* We’re delighted that the two acts completing The Big PEN Comedy Gig line-up are actor, comedian, and chair of BBC Radio 4‘s The News Quiz, Miles Jupp, plus musical comedian and Funny Women of the Year Award winner, Harriet Braine!
Line-up subject to change.
Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting English PEN’s work defending the freedom to read and the freedom to write in the UK and around the world: campaigning for writers at risk, running creative writing workshops with refugees, taking the most exciting new international contemporary literature to new audiences and keeping free speech safe for us all.
Produced by English PEN and Funny for Good.
