The Festival of Italian Literature in London (FILL) is a festival of literature and ideas envisioned by the London-based Italian literary community and organised with the Italian Cultural Institute of London. The Festival wants to attract all Londoners and all events will be in English or Italian with consecutive translation.
The first edition will run on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of October 2017. It will take place in the heart of London, at the Coronet Theatre in Notting Hill. Print Room at the Coronet has been glad to partner up with the organisers of the festival and will host the festival’s events in their spaces (Auditorium, Studio, and Bar).
English PEN is particularly excited to be partnering with FILL for the below event:
Gateway to Europe
Saturday October 21, 16:45, Coronet Theatre – Auditorium. £ 5
The moving and essential story of an Italian doctor who has worked for 25 years on the front line of what is perhaps the largest mass migration in human history. The island of Lampedusa has hit the world headlines in recent years as the first port of call for hundreds of thousands of migrants. Since the shipwrecks began in 1992, Doctor Bartolo has been rescuing, welcoming, helping, and providing medical assistance to those who survived. But above all, he has been listening to them.
Books by the authors in the programme will be available at a book stall run by the Italian Bookshop.
