Vigil for imprisoned colleagues in Saudi Arabia
Friday 22 February, 1:00 pm—2:00 pm
More than four years ago, blogger Raif Badawi was flogged 50 times as punishment for his writings. Four years later, English PEN and Reporters Without Borders (RSF) continue to hold monthly vigils at the Saudi Embassy here in London to call for his immediate release.
We will also be calling for the release of other writers detained in Saudi Arabia, including Waleed Abulkhair, Ashraf Fayadh, Fahad Al Fahad and Marwan Al Muraisy, and for justice for murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
This month, we will also be joined by the Peter Tatchell Foundation and colleagues from ALQST who will be highlighting the many activists detained in Saudi Arabia in recent months, including Nobel Peace Prize nominees Loujain al-Hathloul, Nassima al-Sadah and Abdullah al-Hami. Please join us if you can and help spread the word.
**NB: Activists are asked to meet at the Curzon Street entrance to the Embassy**
