Workshops: StorySlam:Live and English PEN collaborate on new project at HMP Holloway

StorySLAM:Live and English Pen are delighted to collaborate on the  pilot project Slamming Gates – starting this week in HMP Holloway. A literary version of the X Factor, we’ve got three units – thirty six budding writers – all raring to go and work with Joelle Taylor to write the winning short story on our theme Freedom of Expression. Three finalists will be chosen from each unit to perform their stories before a panel of judges, including literary agent Samar Hamman, and the whole prison! We’re looking out for the writers of the future and are proud to bring new voices to the literary stage. If you want a chance to hear the stories then watch this space – we’ll be bringing the winners to SouthBank Centre later this year.

  1. I have afew American prison poetry pamphlets that I’m trying to find a home for, so was looking into writing workshops being done in eg Holloway prison and (thereby) found out about Slammimg Gates’ freedom of expression short story competition ~ I understand the winners performed their pieces at the Southbank earlier this month, but am hoping you published that work; is it in print and, if so, how might I get hold of a copy?
Best wishes, Jackie Joseph, London
