English PEN announces new deputy director

English PEN has appointed Catherine Taylor as deputy director

Catherine Taylor is former publisher of the Folio Society, where she set up many partnerships and sponsorships and was part of the management committee of the inaugural Folio Prize. She has previously worked for the British Library, Microsoft and Amazon, and is a prolific literary critic, most notably with the Guardian and the Sunday Telegraph. Catherine was a judge on the 2014 Jewish Quarterly-Wingate Prize. 

Jo Glanville, director of English PEN said: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Catherine to English PEN. Her depth of experience and knowledge of the literary and publishing world will be an immense asset for the charity.’

Catherine Taylor said: ‘For nearly a century English PEN has played a vital role in promoting and protecting the freedom to write, read, and communicate without threat of persecution and imprisonment.
