English PEN relies on our supporters in so many ways, whether its those who get involved with letter-writing campaigns or sign up as paying members. One way we achieve our goal of defending the freedom to write and the freedom to read is through our social media networks, which help us draw attention to key cases of writers in prison, publicise our exclusive events, and promote books in translation we’ve supported.
Recently, to celebrate reaching 20,000 followers on Twitter, we gave out three prizes.
The first, a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea t-shirt, was kindly donated by the company Litographs.
The second prize was two free tickets to our exclusive screening of Under Milk Wood in January at the Tricycle Theatre.
The third prize was an English PEN tote bag full of books supported by our Writers in Translation programme.
