No Offence Campaign Sends New Letter to Charles Clarke MP

The Free Expression is No Offence campaign is concerned about the content in the Labour Party’s Manifesto suggesting that Labour will repeat their attempt to bring the previously proposed legislation on incitement to religious hatred onto the statute books.

Home Secretary Charles Clarke recently sent letters to British mosques expressing Labour’s continuing intention to bring in the controversial new legislation after the government failed to get the Bill through parliament before the general election. In English PEN’s view this is an attempt to exploit the religious and race card in the election campaign.
