Awarded for the best translation into English of a full-length Portuguese work of literary merit and general interest.  The original must have been first published in the last 100 years, and must be by a Portuguese national.  Entries for the next prize must have been first published in the UK in 2002-2004 inclusive.

Submit: 3 copies of the translation and 2 copies of the original text 

Most recent winner (2002): Richard Zenith for his translation of The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa (Penguin)

Runner-up: Margaret Jull Costa for her translation of The Migrant Painter of Birds by Lidia Jorge (The Harvill Press)
