Andrew Puddephatt on freedom of expression

May’s Talking Tuesday featured Article 19’s Andrew Puddephatt. Andrew gave an overview of the organisation’s history and aims, before leading into a general discussion on the new and varied challenges faced by freedom of expression in this era of globalisation.

Despite the generally bleak freedom of expression situation in many parts of the world, Andrew was able to give examples of projects past and present that have helped improve previously dire situations. A range of members and non-members contributed to an interesting, thought-provoking and informative discussion. Above all, the evening provided both food for thought and inspiration to those of us concerned about the human rights landscape in the 21st century.
