Over 700 people attended English PEN’s Creative Writing Masterclasses on the opening day of the London Book Fair this year. The event, the first collaboration of its kind with the Daily Mail and the London Book Fair, was an unprecedented success. We were so excited by the wide range of people, young and old alike, who descended on London’s Olympia Conference Centre to pick up invaluable insiders’ information on writing Children’s Fiction, Memoirs & Biographies and TV Scriptwriting.
The much-lauded tutors for what will hopefully become an annual PEN event were: current Children’s Laureate Anne Fine and very popular children’s author Tony Bradman; journalist and author Blake Morrison and biographer and novelist Victoria Glendinning; best-selling novelist and screen-writer Debbie Moggach and undisputed king of the literary adaptation, Andrew Davies.
