On 1 April 2017, UK-based writers, poets, novelists, playwrights and artists joined English PEN and the Enemies Project for the second English PEN Modern Literature Festival. Each of the writers performed new works created in solidarity with some of the individuals we support throughout the year through our Writers at Risk Programme. We are hugely grateful to all the writers who took part and especially to the festival’s curator and mastermind SJ Fowler for an extraordinary and inspiring day.
