Thanks to support from the Limbourne Trust and AB Charitable Trust, young refugee and migrant women have been attending a series of creative writing workshops at Praxis Community Projects in Bethnal Green. Writer and journalist Bidisha is leading the workshops and this week a special event was held at the V&A Museum of Childhood. Faiza Guene, a French-Algerian writer of young adult fiction travelled from Paris to meet the young women. Along with Sarah Ardizzone, the English translator of her work, Faiza shared her love of writing and then held a workshop in creating fictional characters.
Thanks to Definitions (an imprint of Penguin Random House) for supplying free copies of Just Like Tomorrow for the women to read and keep. You can see from the photo that they were energised by the chance to meet Faiza and gain inspiration for their own writing.
