Membership of English PEN is open to everyone
English PEN promotes the freedom to write and the freedom to read in England and around the world. Anyone can join our membership, whether you’re a writer, a reader, an editor, a translator, a publisher, a literary agent… or just someone who is passionate about literature and freedom of expression.
For less than £4 a month, join English PEN as either a Member or a Friend. Members are writers and literary professionals (publishers, agents, editors, translators, booksellers etc.) and Friends are readers and other people who want to support literature and our work. The annual subscription rate is £50 (London and Overseas) or £45 (UK, outside London). The student rate is £15 per year.
You can pay online by clicking on the Sign up by Direct Debit button below. Choose whether you want to pay annually, quarterly, or monthly, and enter the relevant amount.
When you click through, fill in the total annual amount you want to pay to English PEN, and then choose whether you want the payments to be taken monthly, quarterly or once annually. Don’t forget, it’s less than £4 a month!
