Giving Tuesday (27 November) is a day to do good things for your favourite charity or cause. This year, we are asking you to take one of the following actions to support our work to promote and defend the freedom to write and freedom to read, both here in the UK and around the world.
Every year, PEN asks members and supporters around the world to send seasonal greetings to writers at risk and their families. Past recipients have told us about how these can provide much-needed moral support, and a crucial reminder that they have not been forgotten; others have told of how they were afforded better treatment as a result of cards flooding in from all over the world. Find out more and get involved.
Learn more about PEN’s work at our next event: Dave Eggers (‘The Circle’, ‘A Hologram for the King’) will make an exclusive UK appearance with an inspiring lecture on digital human rights. Join us on 16 November for the HG Wells lecture, introduced by English PEN President Philippe Sands and sponsored by The Times Literary Supplement. Book your tickets here.
Our members and supporters have always played an important role in our work to promote and defend the freedom to write and the freedom to read, both here in the UK and around the world. Become a member today or make a donation to support our work.
Please let us know what actions you take via the comments box below or via email to [email protected] and help spread the word! #GivingTuesday
