Chandra Thangaraj

Chandra Thangaraj is a prominent Tamil writer, poet, filmmaker, and former journalist based in Chennai. Beginning her literary career with short stories, she debuted with the collection Poonaigal Illatha Veedu, published by Uyirmai in December 2007. This was followed by Kaattin Perunkanavu (short stories, Uyir Ezhuthu, 2009), Neengichellum Peranbu (poems, Uyir Ezhuthu, 2009), Azhagamma (short stories, Uyir Ezhuthu, 2011), Vazhithavariyadhu Attukkuttialla Kadavul (poems, Pattampoochi Padhipagam, 2015), Milagu (poems, Ethir Veliyeedu, 2020), Cholam (short stories, Ethir Veliyeedu, 2022), Veru Veru Suriyangal (poems, Ethir Veliyeedu, 2025) Her debut novella, Malaiyetram and novel, Kanavilirundhu Purappatta Manjal Nira Mugangal were both published by Ethir Veliyeedu in December 2025. She has won numerous awards and honors that include Vikatan Viruthu (2008), Sundara Ramasamy Viruthu (2012), Sigaram Thotta Pengal Viruthu (2014), Honorable Women Director (2019), Deva Devan Viruthu (2021), and Kalaignar Porkizhi Viruthu (2023). Chandra has worked as assistant/associate director for acclaimed Tamil films like Raam (2005), Paruthiveeran (2007), Katradhu Tamizh (2007), Yogi (2009), Rettaisuzhi (2010), and Soorarai Pottru (2020). She made her directorial debut with the 2022 drama Kallan.

Vilasini Ramani

Vilasini Ramani is a translator and an independent filmmaker. She is a mother of three children. She received her M.A. in English Literature from Bengaluru City University. She was awarded the 2024 New India Foundation Translation Fellowship towards translating a book of M. Singaravelar, the first communist from South India. She was the editor and publisher of Pragnai from 2014-2020. She has translated four books from English to Tamil and has published articles on cinema and culture.
