Literary agents AP Watt were yesterday crowned winners of the tenth annual Colman Getty PEN Quiz.
Tense competition saw AP Watt’s team ‘The Agile Agents’ secure victory by just one point, ahead of rival newspaper teams from The Times and the Daily Telegraph who tied in second place. The Guardian’s ‘Kings Place Crew’ and The Independent’s team tied in third place. The winning team received ten bottles of Bruichladdich The Botanist small-batch, artisanal gin.
The night at the Royal Institute of British Architects was deftly hosted by BBC Radio 4’s news presenter Jim Naughtie. Other guests included Nick Hornby, Lady Antonia Fraser, Ferdinand Mount, AN Wilson, Robert Lacey, David Baddiel, Jeremy Vine, Alan Hollinghurst and Charlie Higson.
We are delighted to have raised approximately £18,500 from the evening. The quiz provides essential funds to support PEN’s work defending freedom of expression, campaigning on behalf of persecuted writers worldwide and promoting literature and literacy.
