Writer and ethnographer Ellen Wiles presents a short story about a writer from Myanmar reflecting on her country’s new transition. It is fictional, but is based on several true accounts of Burmese writers’ lives under censorship and beyond, many of which are featured in Wiles’s book Saffron Shadows and Salvaged Scripts.
