This Autumn, students at Newham Sixth Form College (New VIc) are forming a writing collective with champion slam poet Joelle Taylor.
Over eight weeks, the collective will create a lyrical landscape of London life, taking the city and its local activists, thinkers and poets throughout history as inspiration for their writing. Sharing experiences and opinions of the city, the Lyrical London project will be a space for students to explore and shape the future of what it means to be young in Newham in 2015.
At the end of the project, the collective will curate and design an anthology of their poetry, lyrics and stories, and will perform their work live on stage at various events.
