Awarded for the best translation from the German of a full-length work of literary merit and general interest.  The original must have been first published in the last 100 years.

Submit: 3 copies of the translation and 3 copies of the original text

Most recent winner (2003): Anthea Bell for her translation of Rain by Karen Duve (Bloomsbury)

Runner-up: Michael Hoffman for his translation of Luck by Gert Hoffman (The Harvill Press)
